Goran staggered under the weight of the heavy metal bucket. As his rag-wrapped feet slipped, slop and rotten meat spilled from the rim and splattered down his left side. It smelled awful, but he didn't notice. He smelled awful most of the time. As an eta, he was quite used to it.

But the samurai didn't like the awful smell. No oh no. They didn't like the smell of Goran and they especially didn't like the smell of garbage. And Otosan Uchi was a big city, so it made a lot of garbage. Yes oh yes. And Goran carried it, as he had yesterday, and the week before, and every one of the fifteen years that he could remember, from a bin behind the Imperial Palace half a mile to a hole in the earth, where he dumped it. He had to make 15 trips a day, or he got beaten by the taskmaster, Yotsu.

But he didn't mind. Well, not in the spring. He did miss the toe he had lost this winter, but it was extra cold. He usually didn't lose toes. Plus, he got the pick of what was in the bucket before he dumped it. Sometime there was a fish head or other tasty bit. Yes oh yes.

With a grunt, he swung the bucket off his shoulder near the cave entrance. The smell here was worse even that Goran, the slick incline covered with the remains of rotted food and waste. His thick tongue sticking out, Goran swished his hand through the bucket. No tasty bits this time. No oh no. With a sigh, he heaved the mass into the hole.

The hole cursed at him.

He stopped, and squinted at the hole. It hadn't ever talked before. Did it suddenly not like garbage?

Suddenly, a figure staggered out of the hole. He smelled like Goran did, and was covered in mud and garbage. But he held something in his hand that made Goran drop face down in the mud with a shriek. It was a katana, and only the samurai were allowed to have those. And this was not just any katana! It was the golden-bladed one he had seen used by the Captain of the Imperial Guard!

Inari gasped the air, sheilding his eyes against the light. Ignoring the eta, he started for the Imperial Palace.

Do we get to hear more of the story? I mean some of us weren't too happy for a while when we found out we were betrayed and that Inari was missing. I would imagine all of us are wondering what this Inari says when he walks into court. We would hope this is the real Inari as that would make more sense. The question is who is this other Inari.

Can I jump Shadowlands characters and take their place? Why don't I have this ability?! Michael promised me all-encompasing power!

Jade tests for Inari, Kuron, Mazumi, Yasukaza, and Hotaru come up clean. Did I miss anyone else in Otosan Uchi the beginning of this turn?

Apparently Hoto is "conspicuously" absent.

No, no, no. Hoto is in court. I said he'll need to go take care of some things in the near future. Not right now. Although they are important things.
