Don't you mean +15?
Also, what do the scrolls do? Why would we give up a character for a Turn? _________________ What exactly do you mean by "You're dead"? |

Can you please clarify what you mean by extracting the writings of Isawa.
Also, will we be able to know what the effect of the scroll will be before we decide if we want to use it or not? (IF we have a scroll)
If we somehow fail to make it to the end, does the character die?

+15, sorry.
The only way for someone to die is if a Duel that occurs during a tie gets ugly. Even if you fail every check, you're just really, really slow.
Why should you do this? Well:
To keep Black Scrolls away from the Scorpion/Shadowlands/Anzai.
To get XP: You get 1 XP plus 1 XP for each level you succeed on. Winners get a bonus 1 XP.
To Gain Honor: The winners gain +1 honor
In brief, each scroll:
The Shambling Horror: Raises a large number of Zombie troops.
The Iron Citidal: Creates a massive fortress anywhere.
Return of the Fallen Lord: Restores a slain character as a mercenary (i. e. not replaced should they die). _________________ I like my coffee like I like my women. COVERED IN BEES! -Izzard

Does this apply to me as well? _________________ There are some things I like about George W Bush. Since he took office, the New England Patriots have won 3 Super Bowls and the RedSox won the World Series after a 86 year drought. |

It even applies to the Shadowlands, but frankly, with Tonsu's -5 honor, he's going to need a lot more help. _________________ I like my coffee like I like my women. COVERED IN BEES! -Izzard |

I've moved the discussion to here, since this is where the rules for the Event are.
In the Game, a Duel which takes all of 1 strike, takes the action up for the month. Do I like it, think its right? Doesn't matter. That's how the rule is written.
I for one, am planning on sending someone, and had planned on it being his action (barring of course him not surviving Mori this turn). From how the event has been described, its a 4 or 5 tier race, through several Tests. Technically, Michael could have made it an action per tier (lasting multiple months) as opposed to whne you go into a crypt and search whcih takes 1 action. I think he's already being fair in allowing the multiple actions to only take 1 action.
The Race for the Scrolls should remain a declared action. They are artifacts of importance, and if people don't want to "send" someone, then they don't get the chance to win the scroll.
If its a free action, then the Biggest Clan Champion will win, and I
don't see that as a fair trade-off.
If everyone sends 1 person, then we are all on equal footing next turn. _________________ There are some things I like about George W Bush. Since he took office, the New England Patriots have won 3 Super Bowls and the RedSox won the World Series after a 86 year drought. |

| I think there would be hardly anyone going to the event if it were a character action, which doesn't make sense considering how important story-wise it seems to be. |

While I do agree with you Don, I think the simple fact is that the majority of the clans are up to their ears in problems and that they do not have the luxury of sending someone to the Tower this turn, next turn, or in the immediate future. Now I'm sure many of us would like to but its just poor timing. I think its a neat idea and under different circumstances one that would be worth doing.
However in the current situtation I had not planned on sending anyone as that would be their action. I see that I was not alone and I have the feeling that maybe two or three people tops were actually going to go to the Tower which kind of makes the whole event pointless in my opinion. At least by making it a free action it keeps the whole event from being meaningless. If it stays as costing a character action for the turn I'm ok with that too as that's how it was originally going to be, I just don't plan on sending anyone if it costs a character action.
Either way I'm fine with what the final decision will be I just don't want to see it become a worthless endeavour because it got a poor turnout is all. |
